Usa l'apposito tool per i driver proprietari, non dovresti aver problemi.

Ho installato i driver Open perfettamente..però quando vado ad attivare gli effetti desktop il sistema si blocca del tutto..mentre invece prima funzionavano di brutti gli effetti desktop...che fare?

Probabilmente è dovuto alla nuova versione, prova ad allegare il file xsession-errors, lo trovi (nascosto) nella tua home.

Nessuno ti risponde perchè la soluzione non la puoi trovare qui nel forum. E' un problema di programmazione che deve essere risolto dagli sviluppatori di Ubuntu. (Per questo ti avevamo messo in guardia da tale pratica sadomaso )
I consigli possono essere solo due a questo punto.
1) Se con il pc ci lavori/studi: piallare tutto e ritornare a Feisty, aspettando la release stabile in ottobre
2) Se il pc non lo utilizzi: aspettare pazientemente i vari aggiornamenti per il fix di questi ed altri errori
